Multiple Accounts

If you work with several organizations — say you’re a consultant administering a separate org for each client — Carolina Cloud can attach multiple accounts to a single login. You sign in once with your usual email, then pick which account to enter.

Each account is completely separate:

  • Its own organization and role (you can be an admin in one org and a regular member in another).
  • Its own instances, storage buckets, and Nextflow runs.
  • Its own API key. A key issued in one account cannot see or touch another account’s resources — there is deliberately no “master key” that spans accounts. This is what makes cross-client contamination impossible, even from the CLI.
  • Its own billing: credits and payment methods never mix between accounts.

Once enabled, an account switcher appears at the top of the dashboard showing which account you’re in. Click it to switch or to create a new account; on login you’ll be asked which account to enter. Every open tab is pinned to the account it was opened under — if you switch accounts elsewhere, stale tabs refuse to act and reload rather than touching the wrong organization’s data.

Multiple accounts are currently in early access and enabled per user. Need them? Email support@carolinacloud.io and we’ll turn it on for you — it takes a few minutes. Without it, each login belongs to at most one organization, which is the right fit for most users.
