Referral Program
Refer another organization to Carolina Cloud and earn a commission on their spend. Commission is paid into your organization’s prepaid credit balance, so you can spend it on compute and storage the same way as any other prepaid top-up.
Commission ladder
Section titled “Commission ladder”Your commission rate is set by the referred organization’s lifetime eligible spend. Each referred customer climbs the ladder independently — one customer’s spend never affects the rate you earn on another.

There is no cap and no expiry. Once a referred org has spent $5,000 of eligible revenue, every dollar after that earns you 2.5% indefinitely.
What counts as spend
Section titled “What counts as spend”Commission is booked on real revenue from the referred organization:
- Prepaid credit purchases — commission is computed on the dollars they actually paid (not the discounted credit grant).
- Card-billed compute — VMs, containers, and notebooks charged to their org card.
- Card-billed storage — warm and cold storage charged to their org card.
Usage paid out of prepaid credits does not earn a second commission — that revenue was already counted at the top-up. Free trial/promo credits never count either.
How you’re paid
Section titled “How you’re paid”When eligible spend is booked for a referred org:
- We walk their cumulative spend through the ladder above.
- The resulting commission is credited straight into your org’s prepaid balance.
- The payout shows up on the My Organization page under Referrals.
There’s no separate cash-out step. Referral earnings are spendable Carolina Cloud credits — the same prepaid bucket that earns SOFR-referenced interest while it sits idle.
Where to see it
Section titled “Where to see it”If your organization has referred anyone, the My Organization page (sidebar → Usage & Billing → My Organization) shows a Referrals section with one row per referred org:
- Referred organization — their name
- Lifetime spend — eligible spend counted toward your commission so far
- Amount paid out — total commission credited to your prepaid balance from that org
The section only appears once you have at least one referral on the books.
Getting set up
Section titled “Getting set up”Referral attribution is configured by Carolina Cloud for you — there is no self-serve referral link today. If you’d like to refer an organization (or believe a signup should be attributed to you), contact us and we’ll attach the relationship. Once linked, commission accrues automatically on every eligible revenue event going forward.
